Autism

Autism is defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV). Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the name given to describe the wide range of behaviours amongst the autistic population. Children with autism are less able to interact with the world as other children do. Typically they have deficits in three key areas:

           • Verbal and non-verbal Communication
           • Social awareness and interactions 
           • Imaginative play (variable interests and behaviours)

Autism Speaks is the largest autism related non-profit healthcare agency in the U.S., raising over 69 million dollars to fund programs of research, awareness, advocacy and family service.

Autism is a general term used to describe a group of complex developmental brain disorders known as Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD). Today, it is estimated that one in every 110 children is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined. An estimated 1.5 million individuals in the U.S. and tens of millions worldwide are affected by autism.

Autism Speaks is working to extend awareness and investigation of potential immunological issues to researchers outside the field of autism as well as those within the autism research community. Discoveries of Hope joins Autism Speaks to promote greater awareness, please join our campaign “Hollywood for a Cure”™.

Hollywood for a Cure™ is our cause based events brand under Discoveries of Hope Foundation which produces, manages, and executes all special events in support of our nonprofit causes and initiatives.

Anti Bullying

Abuse can affect virtually anyone from all walks of life, including men, women, children, and seniors. It can take the form of physical battery, emotional bullying, sexual abuse, neglect, or even self-inflicted harm. Whatever your situation, you deserve to live without pain and fear.

Whether you’re the abused, the abuser, or a concerned friend or family member, it’s important to know that there is help available. By learning about the different types of abuse and what you can do to stop or prevent it, you can make a huge difference in your own or someone else’s life. Discoveries of Hope Foundation is committed to equality and doing whatever we can to bring more awareness to stop bullying in all forms, through our Hollywood for a Cure™ campaign.

Supporting Cancer Awareness

We are working in partnership with other charities, the community, and others to support finding a cure for cancer. There are many different forms of cancer, and it is because of that reason we here at Discoveries of Hope think it’s important to diversify our efforts globally in that support.

With so many kinds of cancers (all of them critical in nature), DoH is focused on continued awareness, quality care (both medically and hospice related), research and development for potential life saving procedures and treatments, and fundraising efforts to support those organizations on the front lines.

Most importantly, we cannot meet these goals without the generous support from the public. Therefore all of our efforts to support finding a cure for cancer are concentrated on fundraising needs with specific alliances established with strong community ties as well as national (and global) presence.   

Just like there are many kinds of cancers, there are also many different ways which we can help the world in its quest for a cure to this horrible infliction. This disease has touched all of our lives in some way. Please support Discoveries of Hope and our events campaign "Hollywood for a Cure"™ as we do our part supporting cancer awarness for a cure.
